Honoring Dr. Myron Houghton

Office_of_AcademicsThe graduate faculty hosted a lunch to honor Dr. Myron Houghton for his eleven years of service. Staff, students and friends attended. As a visiting faculty he taught a systematic theology module during each fall and spring semester. He joined the faculty at a crucial time when the College was working toward regional accreditation. An accredited college must meet a minimal standard in reference to the percentage of graduate faculty with terminal degrees. Employing Dr. Houghton was one of several steps taken to meet the standard.

The testimony of those present confirmed that Dr. Houghton has been a great asset to Baptist Bible College. Several commented that his academic credentials and theological skills are demonstrated through his energetic, vibrant and witty disposition. Fellow colleagues in the graduate school are thankful for his humility as a life-long learner. Consensus is that he has a great sense of humor, a friendly and approachable demeanor, and very much a godly character that is demonstrated by the fruit of the Spirit. His ability to make detailed knowledge of the Scriptures applicable is invaluable. “On a personal level, I am very grateful for the time and effort he has invested in my life through my doctoral studies,” says Wayne Slusser, Dean of the graduate school. Greg Christopher, VP of Academic Affairs not only appreciates Dr. Houghton’s professional contribution to the college, but also his close personal friendship with him and his family.
