Master of Arts Biblical Studies

The Master of Arts in Biblical Studies is a 72-hour program that prepares students for military chaplaincy and/or ministry in a local church. The Department of Defense requires a 72 hour master's degree in a theological field or related studies. Students will acquire an understanding of theology and the Bible and will integrate that understanding with practical skills enabling them to minister, teach, and counsel cross-culturally.

The Department of Biblical Studies is designed to equip the students with knowledge of God's Word, which is the guideline for faith and practice. This will include an understanding of Biblical theology, and a foundational grasp of both the Old and New Testaments. The students will apply interpretive skills to validate their understanding of the Bible and integrate that learning and skill with practical application.

Students will:

• understand the fullness of scriptural teaching on the great doctrines of the faith, both from a systematic approach and by tracing the theological developments through church history;
• understand the background and context of the Old and New Testament books;
• interpret accurately from the original biblical languages;
• validate their interpretation of Scripture and formation of biblical theology;
• effectively communicate what they have learned in a relevant manner that leads to godliness, to training others, and to the outreach of the lost worldwide.
